Synopsis

“Eternal is the one whose heart has awakened to Love; this is how Eternal Records my life define.” — Hafez

Through Sun, Snow and Rain follows a boy growing up in post‑revolution Tehran, where political upheaval and tightening social restrictions slowly reshape the world around him. As danger intensifies, he is forced to flee Iran, crossing the mountains into Turkey in a journey marked by physical risk, exhaustion, and the uncertain hope of a new beginning.

In Istanbul, he enters a precarious existence on the margins, moving through the city’s underworld of displacement and survival. The days are defined by instability, temporary arrangements, and the knowledge that he is caught between a past he cannot return to and a future that has not yet taken shape.

When he finally reaches Canada, he begins life in Montreal, confronting the disorientation of arrival: poverty, language barriers, cultural distance, and the slow work of rebuilding identity.

Seeking reinvention, he moves to Vancouver, where the memoir expands into the complexities of adulthood — ambition, heartbreak, and the lingering weight of exile. Vancouver becomes both a battleground and a breakthrough: he builds a public career in media and broadcasting, gains recognition, and experiences the intoxicating mix of visibility, success, and emotional vulnerability that comes with fame.

The memoir traces the relationships that shape him — the ones that fracture, the ones that teach him who he is, and the one that ultimately steadies him. Through love found and lost, and love finally held, he begins to reconcile the life he fled with the life he has built.

The book closes in a reflective key, returning to the emotional landscapes that formed him and offering a meditation on migration, identity, resilience, and the quiet, enduring work of belonging.

From the book

“My father turned in his seat, looking directly at me. ‘Get out. Go. Go.’ It was the first time in my life I had seen tears in his eyes. I glanced at my mother, pale, the weight of reality pressing down on her. No words were spoken; there was no time for goodbyes.”
